Bollywood pays tribute to the late singer KK!

Mumbai, India (CU)_ The Indian music industry paid its last respects to the renowned vocalist Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK in the industry, who passed away this week in Kolkata, shortly after his performance at the Nazrul Mancha theater. The singer became unwell during a performance and was rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Following the singer’s demise, the Bollywood industry rushed to pay tribute. Popular singer Hariharan was spotted at KK’s apartment in Mumbai on Thursday.

The other famous vocalists Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, and Javed Ali, as well as singer-composers Salim Merchant and Raghav, met with KK’s family in the afternoon and paid tribute to the late singer. Directors Vishal Bhardwaj and Kabir Khan were also seen at KK’s house. KK lived with his wife Jyothy Krishna and their two children Nakul and Taamara.

Social media was flooded with tributes to KK from Bollywood stars, politicians and other prominent personalities. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her respects to the artist. At Rabindra Sadan, the cultural center, the state government paid a gun salute for the deceased singer. Beginning his career in the 1990s, KK initially sang jingles for several famous advertisements. He entered the music industry in 1999 with the release of the successful album Pal. In addition to singing in Hindi, he also sang in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, and Kannada languages.

KK has sung numerous musical masterpieces and evergreen love songs. Yaaron Dosti from his album Pal, Kya Mujhe Pyar Hai from Woh Lamhe…, Tu Aashiqui Hai from Jhankaar Beats, Zindagi Do Pal Ki from the film Kites, Aankhon Mein Teri from the film Om Shanti Om, Khuda Jaane from the film Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Tadap Tadap from the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam are some of his hit numbers among many other songs.
