London, UK (CWBN)_ Following a gathering in Brussels prior to the European Council summit, foreign ministers from EU states issued warnings to the UK government against terminating negotiations over the deadline for the agreement that’s closing in.

“We shouldn’t be rushed into compromises. We actually have a lot of time remaining. We should use the time till 31 December,” Dutch Foreign Minister, Stef Blok, said.

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the European Council added that “We are fully committed to substantial negotiations. We’ve always said and continue to say it’s the substance that prevails over timing.”

BCC reported that, the Irish Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, also noted that, “[…] if an agreement can be reached it would be to everybody’s benefit. And if an agreement is failed to be reached it would be catastrophic, certainly for the British economy, and […] deeply damaging for the Irish economy as well.
