Maldives (Commonwealth) _ The female U20 volleyball team from Kyrgyzstan won the CAVA Women’s U20 Volleyball Championship in the Maldives. The male championship finished on July 23. Kyrgyzstanis met Sri Lanka in the final and won 3–0.
The CAVA Women’s U20 Volleyball Championship came to a spectacular climax, with Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan securing their berths in the final with decisive straight-set victories in the semifinals on Monday. Sri Lanka trounced the newly founded Maldives, winning 25-9, 25-8, and 25-7 in 50 minutes to become the first team to qualify for the final.
Skipper Herath M. Chathuri P.A. scored 12 points, including 11 assaults on 24 attempts. No Maldivian player reached double figures, with Solah Maaya Hussain getting 9 points on 8 kills and one block in the hosts’ defeat.
The Sri Lanka Girls Under-20 volleyball team achieved history by reaching the finals of the inaugural CAVA Under-20 Women’s Volleyball Championship.
This victory is historic for Sri Lankan women’s volleyball since it is the first time in many years that a Lankan women’s team has gone to the final. The Sri Lanka women’s team won bronze at the 2019 South Asian Games, their most recent major achievement.
The Sri Lanka U20 Women’s Team, captained by Chathuri Purnima, controlled the game from the start. They won the first set 25-09, then the second set 25-08, and finally the third set 25-07.
Sri Lanka led the four-nation competition with a four-game winning streak. In the final, they will meet the victor of the Kyrgyzstan-Nepal semi-final. The final match is planned for today at 4:30 p.m. Sri Lanka time.
This event will include eight of the 14 CAVA members, including Kazakhstan and South Asia’s powerhouse squad India, both of whom have established themselves on the world volleyball scene.
Nepal, aiming for a hat-trick by winning the championship for the third time in a row, began their title defense campaign by facing Kyrgyzstan in Group A. This group comprises India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan followed suit, defeating Nepal with a strong effort (25-14, 25-22, and 25-13) to take second place in the final. Rasulbek Kyzy Roza led Kyrgyzstan to an extraordinary triumph with 12 points, including 11 attacks from 24 tries, while Sunar Mina scored 10 points in Nepal’s defeat.
The semifinals drew an amazing crowd of sports stakeholders and fans. The Maldives, as hosts, demonstrated their enhanced infrastructure and dedication to developing a new era in volleyball.

The first match of the semi-finals will see the first and second place winners of the league round compete for the victory, while the third and fourth ranked clubs will face in the Second match. The two teams who win the semi-finals will battle for the championship title on Tuesday, while the losing teams will meet on the same day to determine the championship’s third-place team.
The Central Asian Volleyball Association governs volleyball in Central and South Asia, including indoor, beach, and grass events. As volleyball has been one of major sports in the region, this CAVA will be one of most expected and prestigious titles in the future.
