CHEO bags the Best Children’s Hospitals in the World title

Newsweek’s 2022 list of the World’s Best Hospitals, and one of the few in Canada. CHEO is included among other specialist hospitals, highlighting the world’s top pediatric, cancer, and trauma care, as well as cardiology, oncology, cardiac surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, and pulmonology.

Newsweek and Statista conducted research to compile the list, inviting numerous doctors, hospital administrators, and other medical personnels to participate in an online poll. Additionally, they surveyed patients to determine satisfaction with care and examined performance factors including cleanliness, patient safety, and treatment quality.

The World’s Greatest Hospitals 2022 list honors the best medical facilities in twenty nations. These nations include the United States of America, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Israel, as well as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Thailand, Italy, Brazil, India, Spain, Mexico, Poland, Austria, Belgium and Netherlands.

Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO, expressed delight over the accomplishment. He said, “This is a wonderful tribute to our staff and medical staff at CHEO who truly partner with families to provide world-class care.  Despite the on-going global pandemic and the enormous challenges we have faced, this recognition is a reminder about the passion and commitment I see here every day, and how helping kids to live their best lives inspires us every day.”

CHEO was recently named as one of the National Capital Region Top Employers for the 11th year in a row, which is an annual competition held by MediaCorp Canada Inc. CHEO was also honored with the 5-star reward and recognition employer in 2022 by Canadian HR Reporter. Additionally, CHEO has been recognized as one of the Top Ten Most Admired Corporate Cultures in Canada and has been honored by Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, and also received several other honors for medical and research work. Alex Munter was named as the favorite CEO of the year by 2020 Faces Magazine.
