CIBC announces strategic relationship with top American tech company

 top American multinational tech company Microsoft through a multi-year agreement which formalised the company’s cloud computing service cloud computing service Microsoft Azure as CIBC’s primary cloud platform.

Accordingly, Azure’s vast on-demand computing power is expected to enable the Canadian bank to modernise its platforms while developing efficiency, resilience and agility. CIBC’s Group Head for Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation, Christina Kramer, noted that the bank’s investment in cloud technology is a “cornerstone” in its efforts in its technological transformation. “With Microsoft’s Azure platform, we will be better positioned to help clients achieve their ambitions, through client-facing services such as digital banking and global remittances, as well as furthering innovative work in areas such as AI and machine learning,” she added.

According to Kevin Peesker, President of Microsoft Canada, in the rapidly evolving financial services industry, ensuring employees have the required digital training is crucial for an organisation to thrive. “We are proud to support CIBC’s ongoing digital transformation through Microsoft Azure, equipping CIBC with the AI, data, cloud and machine learning capabilities to drive innovation, more securely power their infrastructure and deliver superior customer experiences,” he said.

Through their strategic partnership, CIBC will receive access to a host of Microsoft training programs and certifications which will enable the bank to support and develop the top talent available at the bank.
