AUSTRALIA – North Queensland half Daejarn Asi has signed with the Vodafone Warriors for the rest of the 2022 NRL season.

The 21-year-old Christchurch-born Asi, who’ll join the Vodafone Warriors immediately, has made a total of 10 first-grade appearances for the Cowboys since his debut in 2020.

“Daejarn has been in our sights for quite a while,” said Vodafone Warriors general manager Craig Hodges.

“When we discovered he was available we were keen to sign him as soon as possible. He’ll give us cover and depth in the halves while he can also play other positions.”

An Aranui Eagles junior, Asi made a try-scoring debut at standoff for the Cowboys in their round 10 clash against Penrith in July, 2020.

He played five times that season and another five last year, splitting his appearances between standoff, the centres and fullback as well as being used off the interchange.

Asi left Christchurch to attend rugby league nursery Keebra Park State High School and later Brisbane Grammar School.

While with Cowboys he has played for the Townsville Blackhawks and the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup.

Asi represented the Māori All Stars in their 10-10 draw with the Indigenous All Stars last year.
