Right now, thanks to the double whammy of high COE prices and additional ARF taxes, there is no escaping the fact that automobiles are terrifyingly expensive in Singapore.

Car dealerships are trying their utmost to bring customers back, and Volkswagen Group Singapore has announced its mid year sales campaigns for Volkswagen and Skoda with discounts of up to $ 75k, set to run until 9th August, 2023.

It is not just a rumour that fewer people are buying.  It has been revealed by statistics from the Land Transport Authority that 45,442 new automobiles were registered in 2021 while only 30,939 new cars were sold in 2022.

The first half of 2023 saw a mere 13,224 new automobiles registered in Singapore, so by the time the end of the year rolls around, don’t expect it to surpass the 2022 total sales figures. The dealership claims that you could now save up to S$ 75,000 over the regular retail price on some of its lineup, with prices starting from S$148,900 for Skoda cars with COE and Volkswagens starting from S$155,900 with COE.

Volkswagen’s Arteon sedan is going at the cheapest it has been for a long time for S$ 229,000 with COE.  On the weekend of July 29th and 30th, the Volkswagen Kombi ice cream van was to be on site serving up some sweet treats and egg terrarium-making workshops, that are on the menu where your own personalized terrarium could be crafted by participants to take home.

Participants in the test drives will be entitled to join the brand’s hands-on workshops.  Prior registrations are carried out at the Volkswagen Group Singapore website and you have to register online to secure your spot since every workshop session only accommodates the first 8 people.  The workshop sessions were run on July 29th and 30th afternoons on both event days.
