Do your own wedding. A First in the world!

Maldives (Commonwealth Union)_ Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences has launched The Knot, an innovative, first-of-its-kind, self-service wedding venue, in order to fulfill the demand for travel for small weddings. With a ceremony designed exclusively for guests who wish to exchange vows with few or no attendees, couples may now celebrate their wedding day without a celebrant. The new idea was implemented as a result of the growing desire for small weddings with a handful of guests. Additionally, since many couples select intimate destination weddings that can be enjoyed in peaceful privacy with family and friends, this program is in keeping with global travel trends.

The self-service wedding pledges are now replacing the standard and conventional method in an innovative and avant-garde manner. During the ceremony, the couples will take turns speaking, and a permanent wedding arch will be constructed on the beach to complement the surrounding environment. In addition, a photo booth will also be placed nearby, allowing guests to film or live-stream their momentous occasion. The assisting events staff at Amilla Maldives will arrange for wedding decorations, champagne, and cake, in order to elevate the ceremony.

The wedding vows are engraved on wooden panels and placed at the ceremony area for the convenience of the bride and groom. The Knot will also offer six wooden seats for a limited guest list of family members and friends. The setting is perfect for all sorts of weddings, including pre-planned and casual ceremonies. To link their destinies in holy matrimony, visitors just need to bring their wedding attire to the spot.

According to event manager Suzy Ahmed, “A marriage is an agreement between two people committed to growing together in a lifelong relationship. So what could be better than renewing your vows of love, commitment and trust in a beautiful private location; an unforgettable experience shared only between you and your partner”. He added, “The two sets of vows are engraved into wood, and each partner takes turns to read part of the script. You can place your phone on the stand to record your vows or can surprise your friends and family at home by live streaming it. The vows are Amilla-inspired; authentic and loving, but with a sense of playfulness.”

The resort’s secret wedding site is said to be the first of its kind in the world. It is located on a secluded beach, concealed by tropical greenery and the shimmering Indian Ocean. The secluded setting features a wooden wedding arch, a perfectly placed phone stand that allows couples to record or even live stream the event, and six rustic coconut tree chairs for the guests who are attending the event. Additionally, carved wooden panels offer an alternative to the customary wedding vows, which have been customized for exclusive use by the couple. The self-service wedding is also appropriate for spur-of-the-moment couples who are interested in renewing their vows.

Couples desiring to participate are required to bring only the attire they choose for the big occasion, or they may already be on vacation in Amilla Maldives and opt to repeat their wedding vows after spotting the breathtaking beach wedding site. Though Amilla Maldives is a huge island by Maldivian standards, it has just 67 villas, and more than 70 percent of the island’s beach and forest remain untouched. This implies that The Knot is completely secluded, bordered only by tropical vegetation on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. Amilla also provides several additional types of vow renewal ceremonies for groups of all sizes.
