Dubai (CU)_ The untiring battle of the UAE against the pandemic is admirable. Dubai is making arduous attempts to stop the virus from spreading. Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has confirmed 2,948 new positive cases in its expanded testing program, taking the total count of reported cases in the country to 303,609. Dubai has also maintained the death rate low. It reported 12 deaths due to complications of COVID-19, taking the total count of deaths to 850. The Dubai Police General Command urged all community members to report any breaches of COVID-19 preventive measures through the Call Centre of the Dubai Police (901) or through the ‘Police Eye’ service.

Not only does the UAE performing its best to avoid the spread of the virus on its shores, but it is also supporting the other countries to control the pandemic. Dubai also introduced the Vaccine Logistics Alliance to accelerate the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide via the emirate as an attempt to help out the countries in need of vaccines. The step follows the orders of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance operates with a wider variety of stakeholders, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, government agencies and other vaccine distribution bodies. The distribution will concentrate especially on developing markets, where the pandemic has struck communities hard.

President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said, “We currently stand at the cusp of a historic moment with the rollout of vaccines for countering COVID-19, a pandemic that has disrupted the lives of people around the world”. Sheikh Ahmed added, “Each alliance partner brings to the table a specific and complementary set of strengths and capabilities in vaccine distribution. Together, we are able to store a large volume of vaccine doses at a time and bring in and distribute vaccines to any point around the world within 48 hours.”

In compliance with the plans of Sheikh Mohammed to promote a global solution for the welfare of people, the Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance unite the prime organizations to accelerate the worldwide distribution of desperately needed vaccines through Dubai. To note, the UAE is leading the world in vaccine roll-out campaigns. On Sheikh Mohammed’s direction, the Dubai-based International Humanitarian City has grown to become the world’s largest humanitarian center. The IHC has enabled the supply of over 80 percent of the WHO’s global medical response in the battle against COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
