Durian treats and…

The king of fruits knows no season, and it is lucky for us that several experienced and talented bakers in Singapore know that too.  We are spoiled for choices from puffs to cakes to crepes and durian-infused traditional desserts.  While some pride themselves on being affordable, some even offer same-day delivery, so one could have their during fix anytime, anywhere.  Here are some of the places serving unique items like Durian sticky rice all created from durian.

Four Seasons Durian is the OG of durian desserts, where you could count on Four Seasons Durian, located at multiple locations around Singapore, for creative durian treats.  They have, in addition to the staple selection of durian ice cream, cakes and puffs, infused durian into kaya, in the Durian Kaya, best served on warm toast.  Other popular items include the fluffy Durian Swiss Ross and for the ultimate durian lover, the 3D Mao Shan Wang Cake, realistically handcrafted with spikes!.

The Durian Bakery located at 2, Jalan Lokam Kensington Square, which is dedicated to creating The Richest Durian Experience, crafts its own MSW SilkyGold durian puree made entirely from durian, MSW and D24 variants.  This chunky, smooth puree makes its way into the mouth-watering selection of durian pastries and cakes. Taste it in the Mao Shan Wang Burnt Cheesecake infused with a real Mao Shan Wang during core, or indulge in the generously filled Black and Snowy Mochi.  If you can’t decide, you could order the Signature Durian Dessert Box with Super Burst MSW Giant Puff, Dark Choco MSW Mousse and snowy mochi – delivery or self-collection only.

Ms Durian located at 11, Kelantan Road, Jalan Besar was opened by two bakers, who specialize in turning this golden treasure into delightful macarons, cakes, pastries, puffs and more.  The Mao Shan Wang Durian Cake sees the Mao Shan Wang Durian Craquelin, a choux filled with luscious durian with crumbly chocolate on top and mao shan wang puree layered between vanilla sponge.  There is even a Mao Shan Wang Durian High Tea Set which includes a series of savoury snacks and durian desserts.  The experience could be completed with a durian infused cold brew, the MSW Durian Coffee.

Since 1983, the iconic hotel The Deli at Goodwood Park Hotel along Scotts Road has been crafting duriang treats with its Signature D24 Durian Mousse Cake (from S$17.59) layered with generous lashings of pulpy durian mousse in between pillowy soft vanilla sponge cake. 

Bite into the Signature D24 Crepe (from S$17.59), To fully savour the king of fruits, featuring creamy durian pulp enveloped in a paper-thin crepe. Durian lovers should keep a lookout for the hotel’s annual Durian Fiesta (until 6 Aug 2023), which showcases innovative durian-themed pastries and desserts. 

Durian Lab Café located at 119, Bukit Merah Lane 1, the sister concept of famous durian supplier Ah Seng Durian, uses only the superior Mao Shan Wang durian in their sweet treats. Delight in pastries, gelato, and cakes such as the decadent and custardy MSW Burnt Cheesecake.   The cafe gives beloved local desserts a pungent twist with MSW Sago with a generous dollop of mao shan wang on the top and the MSW Green Bean Soup.

Sinpopo located at multiple locations around the country, breathes an air of modernity into traditional baked goods while preserving heritage. Among their assortment of handcrafted cakes and cookies is the Mao Shan Wang Durian Cake. The fluffy cake layered with luxurious Mao Shan Wang durian and light cream finishes with more durian puree on the top. Their restaurant even serves Durian Sticky Rice and Durian Pengat Creme Brulee, showcasing premium rich Mao Shan Wang in both. 

Stinky by 99 Old Trees, known for their direct-from-farm, quality durians, expands their durian offerings with Stinky.  The durian dessert cafe meticulously crafts delectable desserts like the Stinky Bowl, a creamy D24 durian puree mousse and the light and airy Stinky Roll featuring a rich layer of Mao Shan Wang flesh and fresh custard cream in the Japanese sponge cake. 

Moving online to offline, Sweedy Patisserie continues to craft their durian cakes and famed Fatcarons (a sized-up version of the French macaron) in their cosy cafe at Hougang.   The Mao Shan Wang Fatcarons are lavishly crafted with vanilla bean buttercream and generous amounts of durian flesh with almond crumbs sprinkled by the side. Imagine every durian lover’s dream and delight – creamy durian oozing out with every bite.  

Sunlife Durian Puffs and Pastries, the bakery with quality durian pastries at affordable prices, prides itself on using 100per cent pure D24 durian puree in its fresh bakes. You get the full richness of durian with every bite with no additional sugar, preservatives or cream mixed in such as the addictive puree in the flaky Durian Strudel or in the Mini Durian Eclairs a crisp choux pastry topped with chocolate glaze.
