Ebola alerts being made frequent by the NCDC

NIGERIA (Commonwealth Union) – The NCDC, also known as The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, has been working tirelessly to make sure that Nigeria does not go through another deadly pandemic. This pandemic is not a variant of COVID-19. The scare right now is Ebola, as the virus has been making its rounds in the African continent.

The NCDC has been issuing warning after warning to the Nigerian citizens to be careful as the virus is stronger and more evolved than it previously was. The medication, which has been effective so far, the virus may soon become immune to it, and there could be high death tolls if people aren’t careful.

The NCDC has made it very clear that the virus will and has been carried into Nigeria from visitors from Sudan and Uganda. There is no way this can be stopped unless the borders are closed again. However, it is highly unlikely as Nigeria can afford to close its borders once again.

The agency further went to say that this virus will cause hemorrhaging and once that happens there is a very slight chance of the patient surviving. The hospitals, although equipped, may not be able to cope with the high number of patients since the virus travels pretty fast. This can only mean that most people will die before they even see a doctor.

When asked how the virus could travel in this manner the answer was pretty simple. There is a massive amount of travel especially air travel between Nigeria and Uganda. When these travellers are in confined spaces like airports and air planes, they catch the virus and then tend to spread it like wild fire in the areas that are their final destination.

The agency has sent out information about washing hands and wearing masks to all crowded places and even in the mail to every Nigerian citizen, hoping to curb the spread of the disease.
