Ex Prime Minister critical!

New Delhi, India (CU)_ According to news sources, 88-year-old former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi. After reporting a fever, the senior Congress leader was given a Covid test and was admitted immediately. The ex-PM got his two vaccine doses of Covaxin on March 4 and April 3, respectively. According to close sources, he was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The AIIMS is scheduled to release a more comprehensive statement soon. Get-well messages started flooding in soon after the news of his admission was released.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Wishing our former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji good health and a speedy recovery.”

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Dear Dr Manmohan Singhji, Wishing you a speedy recovery. India needs your guidance and advice in this difficult time”.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote, “My prayers are with Manmohan Singh ji and his family today, and my deepest respect. May he fight this scourge with all his might and get well soon”.

P Chidambaram, the former Union Minister and a member of Dr Singh’s cabinet, conveyed his get-well message through Twitter. He wrote, “Deeply concerned that Dr Manmohan Singh has been hospitalized with fever. I pray that he will overcome this health setback with his indomitable courage. The prayers of the whole nation are with Dr Singh and wish him a speedy recovery”.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, expressed his deep concern for Dr. Singh and wished him to recover soon. He tweeted, “I am concerned about the health of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singhji as he has been admitted to AIIMS. My best wishes to him for a speedy recovery. May he get well soon”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wished speedy recovery. He wrote, “I wish former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singhji good health and (an) early recovery.”

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted, “I am worried about the news of former Prime Minister and great economist Dr. Manmohan Singhji being Covid-positive. All of us pray to God for his speedy recovery. You are our identity and self-respect, get back healthy soon.”

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted, “Just got the news former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji has tested positive for COVID. Sir, our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery.”

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, “Wishing a speedy recovery to Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh who tested positive for COVID.”

HD Devegowda, another former Prime Minister, wished Dr Singh to recover fast. He wrote, “I wish former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh a speedy recovery from COVID-19.”

The news disheartened MK Stalin, the DMK chief and Tamil Nadu’s Opposition Leader. He tweeted, “I am saddened to hear that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has tested positive for COVID-19. Wishing him a speedy and safe recovery back to good health.”

On Saturday, Dr. Singh met with top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and discussed the country’s current emergency situation due to highly spreading coronavirus. After the meeting, Dr. Singh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offering advice on how to deal with a pandemic that has affected over 1.5 crore population and has killed about 1.8 lakh.
