Foreign carmakers’ India dream is fading fast

MUMBAI (CU)_As some of the most developed economies, the US and China in particular, have begun putting the pandemic behind them, India is still recovering from the deadly second wave of COVID-19 which killed an average nearly 400,000 patients a day. Moreover, despite domestic manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines, only 5 per cent of the country’s 1.3 billion people have been inoculated so far. Accordingly, the pandemic, which overwhelmed the country’s healthcare system, has had a severe impact on India’s economy, leaving limited room for more stimulus spending by the government.
