MOZAMBIQUE (COMMONWEALTH UNION) – it seems that all Freddy’s that come to the world wreak havoc in different ways. For starters we have Freddy Prinz Junior who was a teenage heart throb, then we have Freddy Mercury who rocked everyone’s world with his music and finally we have Cyclone Freddy which will possibly cause more damage in Mozambique than fictional Freddy did in Night mare in Elm Street.

As Freddy hit Madagascar the government of the country had nothing but grim news. The cyclone killed 8 people and more than 1000 homes were destroyed. The government still has not confirmed the number of displaced people because of the cyclone. Which means those numbers will only come in later on in the week.

The storm has been causing serious amounts of damage in south eastern Africa and it looks like other countries would start sending aid as fast as they can. The cyclones started coming in late February and is still continuing into March. The Met departments of the countries that have faced and will possibly be facing the cyclone states that they do not know the gravity of the damage the states storms will cause.

The countries are now looking at foreign aid to help them somewhat rebuild what is lost and also to warn countries of the damage the storms are causing. Met departments have confirmed that this is a rare occurrence that a storm would make such a loop in such a time period. They have further confirmed that this kind of storm is known as a tropical storm and it has been the longest one, they have recorded in a long time.

Apart from being ridiculously long it is also managed to gain strength and meteorologist seem to think that this is a storm that is also a freak of nature as the heavier the cyclone hit it should lose strength when continuing on the journey. But Freddy is proving everybody wrong as it goes on break the record for the strength it accumulated which is
