Earth AI has announced a groundbreaking discovery of a substantial gold system within its Willow Glen molybdenum-gold project, located in New South Wales, Australia. The innovative company, known for its advanced AI-driven mineral exploration technology, utilized proprietary software to drill 650 meters of rock, revealing seven gold-mineralized samples with an average grade of 1.14 grams of gold per tonne. The company is currently conducting additional mapping and drilling to assess the deposit’s scale, economic viability, and geological attributes.
The Willow Glen Project is located in the geologically significant New England Orogen, near the township of Guyra, approximately 400 kilometers north of Sydney. This region is renowned for its rich mineral systems, including tin-tungsten, gold-bismuth-molybdenum-silver, and orogenic gold-antimony deposits. In light of this discovery, Earth AI plans to bifurcate the project into two distinct focus areas: WG_Gold, dedicated to gold exploration, and WG_Moly, concentrating on molybdenum mineralization.
Earth AI acquired the Willow Glen site in May 2021, leveraging its patented AI platform to conduct a comprehensive analysis of mineral resources across the state. Earth AI launched a drilling initiative in December 2022 after identifying areas with promising metal concentrations through initial surface investigations. To date, the campaign has completed six diamond drill holes, totaling 3,000 meters, and has uncovered extensive copper and molybdenum mineralization within quartz veins embedded in the Sandon Beds. These rock formations are made up of Permian felsic intrusions and Carboniferous sedimentary rocks, which makes them a good place for minerals to form.
Preliminary findings had indicated the presence of a copper-molybdenum porphyry-style system. But the recent discovery of gold, especially in drill hole WG11D, has led to a better geological interpretation that points to an Au-Cu-Mo porphyry-style system. This revised model could significantly enhance the project’s prospects, broadening its economic and scientific significance.
Roman Teslyuk, the CEO and founder of Earth AI, emphasized the importance of this discovery in validating the company’s innovative exploration technology. “Following our recent announcement regarding one of Australia’s largest palladium systems, the discovery of gold at the Willow Glen site further underscores the effectiveness of our AI-powered mineral discovery platform,” Teslyuk stated. He added that the company’s approach is not only faster and more precise but also more cost-efficient compared to traditional exploration methods. Such advancements are critical for unlocking the mineral resources essential for the global transition to sustainable energy.
The company’s Mineral Targeting Platform (MTP) combines cutting-edge AI with remote sensing, geophysical, and exploration data to deliver unparalleled accuracy, particularly in regions that lack extensive geological datasets. In addition to its advanced software, Earth AI has developed proprietary drilling equipment that minimizes environmental impact by reducing the size of drill holes to that of a tennis ball. This technology significantly lowers both operational costs and logistical challenges, making exploration more sustainable and accessible.
The gold discovery at Willow Glen represents the first target accurately predicted by Earth AI’s AI system, highlighting the platform’s ability to identify diverse mineral systems. This achievement strengthens the company’s reputation as a leader in the sustainable exploration of critical minerals. By leveraging its technological innovations, Earth AI aims to contribute meaningfully to the evolving needs of the energy and resources sector.
The Willow Glen Project holds the potential to significantly contribute to the advancement of mineral exploration methodologies. As the company continues to refine its understanding of the deposit’s characteristics, this discovery serves as a testament to the transformative potential of AI in the mining industry. With ongoing exploration and analysis, Earth AI is set to unlock further opportunities, reinforcing its commitment to driving innovation in a sector vital to the global energy transition.
