Greta Thunberg is a 19-year-old passionate environmentalist, whose speech at the United Nations Climate Action Summit, titled “how dare you”, challenged world leaders, and influential personalities to take immediate action against climate change. Her speech, as well as her efforts, made her a leader in the activist community. However, she is often criticised for her strong opinions and young age.
Andrew Tate is an influencer spreading malicious misogyny and imposing his incorrect patriarchal views by publicising his opinions on social media. He takes pride in being recognised as a sexist, and firmly believes that a woman belongs to a man. He was banned from Twitter for his strong misogynistic statements, but his account was reinstated in November after Elon Musk took over.
So how did these two entirely different personalities cross paths?
Tate tried to mock Greta Thunberg, and received a cutting comeback in response, which spread like wildfire on the internet, getting her tweet over two million likes.
Most of Andrew Tate’s tweets are about his obscenely wealthy lifestyle, or are provocative with regards to his opinions which hold the power to trigger entire communities. He randomly subtweeted 19-year-old Greta Thunberg, bragging about his 33 cars and enormous emissions. He wrote, “Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”
Thunberg’s simple response to this childish tweet was enough to wreak havoc over the internet, she wrote, “Yes, please do enlighten me. Email me at smalldickenergy@getalife.com.”
Twitter users from around the world reacted with much delight, claiming that Tate would now forever be known as the guy who was publicly destroyed by Greta Thunberg. Tate was mercilessly mocked on Twitter as more and more people joined in on the shenanigans to use this as an opportunity to ridicule the influencer.
