Group overview: Marriott to add almost 1,000 new hotels

 95,127 extra rooms into play. 265 of these projects are happening in China alone, making it the group’s second biggest national hotel market, a long way ahead of Australia, which places third courtesy of its 21 planned openings.

North America comes in second place in our regional breakdown, with 370 hotels and 74,316 keys on the development slate currently. A staggering 310 of these are planned for the US, meaning that the Land of the Free is still the group’s most active national hotel market. 

In terms of regions, Europe bags a distant third place, with 86 ongoing projects and 16,654 rooms. A further 55 hotels will open in the Middle East, collectively adding 16,141 rooms.

Marriott is also expanding its presence in Africa, with 42 upcoming openings due to contribute 8,927 more rooms to the continent’s offering. South America concludes the list with 21 launches and 3,667 keys on the horizon. 

Marriott Hotels & Resorts, the group’s signature brand, will grow by 117 hotels and 33,259 rooms in the coming years.  This puts it well ahead of Courtyard by Marriott, which follows with 91 projects and 16,895

Over in California, AC Hotel by Marriott Fig + Pico will launch…keys.
