Guyana introduces Wellness category into bodybuilding championship

Guyana (Commonwealth Union)_Wellness is the newest category that has been added to the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation’s Senior Championships to be held this week.  This category is specifically aimed at adding the concept of wellness to the participants of the Miss Bikini segment, given the ubiquitous issues faced by women in competing for not just beauty pageants but bodybuilding contests as well, in striving to fit into a stereotypical mould of thin models.

Wellness therefore is a requirement for more mass on the lower bodies and shoulders as the judging of Miss Bikini will be on a toned beach body rather than the model thin look that remains specific for most models.

25 athletes are due to participate in the Championships and the winners will compete in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championship 2023 to be held in Aruba.

Besides the Wellness category, the championship will have the Bodybuilding and Men’s Physique categories.

Earlier in the year, Rosanna Fung won the overall Wellness Class at the CAC Championship held in Barbados and retained the Miss Bikini title.  Darious Ramsammy got his first Mr Guyana title and Emmerson Campbell the Men’s Physique title for an unprecedented fifth time.
