LONDON (CU)_Russia’s invasion of Ukraine triggered global alarm on Friday, as President Vladimir Putin’s troops seized Europe’s largest nuclear power station in Ukraine. Moscow took control of the Zaporizhzhia plant after it was shelled by Russian troops, with Ukrainian President describing the conflict as a “nuclear terror”, while world leaders accused the Kremlin of endangering the safety of an entire continent.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles on Monday condemned the “appalling suffering and devastation” in Ukraine. Addressing a local council meeting in Essex, the senior royal described Russia’s invasion as “an attack on democracy” and “freedom itself”, and spoke of solidarity with those “resisting brutal aggression”.
