India resumes trade talks with EFTA countries!

The joint statement released after the meeting highlighted that both parties recognized the challenges posed by the present global economic and trade environment and acknowledged the necessity to resolve bilateral trade and economic partnership issues in a more productive and pragmatic manner. The statement added, “Both sides agreed to continue their efforts to resolve all outstanding issues and work towards deepening and strengthening their economic partnership, while contributing to a more inclusive global trading system”. Further, New Delhi is negotiating a trade accord with the EU, the United Kingdom, and Israel. India’s efforts to enhance its economic engagement with Europe have been significant, with ongoing talks for a trade pact with the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, Israel, and others.

The TEPA negotiations with the EFTA countries are a crucial step towards realizing India’s vision of strengthening economic ties with Europe and ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship between the two regions.
