Smith released a statement expressing confidence in Raj Subramaniam’s skills and expertise. Smith stated that he is hoping to concentrate on Board governance as well as global challenges such as sustainability, innovation, and public policy in his new post. FedEx was established by Smith in 1971.
Mr Subramaniam released a statement expressing delight over the new role. According to the statement issued by FedEx, He said, “Fred is a visionary leader and a legend of the business world. He founded one of the world’s greatest and most admired companies, and it is my honor and privilege to step into this role and build upon what he has created”.
FedEx is based in Tennessee and employs 600,000 people worldwide. According to the business, Mr Subramaniam was elected to the FedEx Board of Directors in 2020 and will remain on the Board. Additionally, before joining FedEx in 1991, he has worked as president of FedEx Express in Canada and in a variety of other management and marketing jobs across Asia and the United States.
Mr Subramaniam formerly served as president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corp. and as president and chief executive officer of FedEx Express, the biggest express transportation firm in the world. His previous posts include executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at FedEx Corp., where he supervised the strategy development of the firm.
David Steiner, head of the Board’s Governance, Safety, and Public Policy Committee, expressed confidence in Raj. He said, “Raj is an accomplished and proven leader, and he has the full support of the Board. He has more than 30 years of global experience across strategy and operations and has led the company through a period of tremendous growth. I am confident that Raj will build on this foundation and take the company to even greater heights”.
