“new energy economy” will be a centrepiece of the discussions between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Scott Morrison this week, as the two leaders of the two countries are set to meet in Washington for the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue on Friday (24 September).

Following his arrival in New York, the Australian PM noted that he intends to seek to assist other countries in their transition to green energy sources, as the international community accelerates its efforts to minimise global carbon emissions.“We see ourselves being a supplier of energy to the region in new energy technologies,” he said. “We share a passion that developing economies, particularly in our region, in the Indo-Pacific, will be able to develop their economies with a clean energy future. They will be able to realise the jobs that advanced economies have and develop their industrial base on the new energy technologies. And Australia wants to play a critical role in that. We want to partner with countries to achieve it. This will be an important topic of discussion on Friday.”
