International travelers with monkeypox symptoms will be referred to the LNJP Hospital in India

-

New Delhi, India (CU)_ Following the first case of monkeypox reported in Delhi, the authorities announced that the foreign travelers exhibiting symptoms like high fever and back discomfort will be transported to the LNJP Hospital directly from the airport. India has recorded four confirmed cases of monkeypox, with the most recent case being a 34-year-old male with no history of overseas travel identified in Delhi. He is now hospitalized at LNJP Hospital and will require at least one week to recuperate.

The Delhi government has urged the district authorities and officials to comply with the Center’s regulations in handling the illness, which further say that referral procedures from airports/ports to selected link hospitals must be enhanced. According to media reports, passengers exhibiting symptoms such as high fever, back ache, and joint pain at IGI Airport will be admitted to the isolation rooms at LNJP Hospital, which has a dedicated 20-member team to treat such patients.

Having confirmed four monkeypox cases in the country, India is now creating its own monkeypox testing kit. According to a media report, the creators of the TrueNat real-time polymerase chain reaction, which is the world’s sole point-of-care platform used by the World Health Organization (WHO) to identify tuberculosis, are making the test kit for monkeypox. Last week, six nations reported their first cases of monkeypox, taking the global count of the cases close to 15,000. To date, over eighty nations have reported confirmed cases of the illness.

According to a statement from French Health Minister Francois Braun, nearly 1700 individuals in France had been afflicted with monkeypox. He said, “Today, about 1700 people have been contaminated with monkeypox in France. The profile (of the patients) is that they are mainly men who have had sexual relations with other men, but one can also be infected by contact with a patient’s blisters”.
