Investing to further education and skilling in India

To organized the effort across education and skilling, plotting the voyage of India’s pupils from the classroom to the workforce, we have declared a three-year collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to enhance educators, students, and entrepreneurs across India. 

Under the collaboration, we have contracted three Letters of Intent (LoI) – with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) which is involved in consultancy, training and research to encourage entrepreneurship and talent development in India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a legal body, and a national-level assembly for technical education, under the Department of Higher Education and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the national level board of education in India for public and private schools. 

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said Education to Entrepreneurship’ relationship is a game-changer, which will utilize Digital Skilling to the roots. This will build volume of our talent pool, flawlessly connect youth, students, workforce & micro-entrepreneurs, with innovative technologies and convert our Amrit Peedhi into new-age problem solvers and industrialists. India’s democracy, human ecology, and variety are to be linked with technology adaptation so that technology becomes the counterweight for the whole society. Steered by the beliefs of NEP, META’s partnerships with NIESBUD, CBSE & AICTE will catalyze immeasurable possibilities for arming our population with crucial digital assistances and empowering micro entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said, The Government’s attention on formulating our youth and workforce in these fast-changing times, to be fortified with the skills to thrive and play vital roles in the developing landscape of technology and the global economy. Digital skills, while representing skilling and entrepreneurship in the modernized ecosystem, more significantly represents a bridge between lakhs of small rural, micro and self-employed businesspersons, permitting them to develop, grow and prosper.

Sandhya Devanathan, Head & Vice President, Meta in India said India’s G20 Presidency has showcased its achievement in its digital conversion initiatives. Meta has combined with numerous working groups and agencies to development India’s G20 urgencies, from job creation, encouraging creator economy and skill development to user security and education. To shape further on the partnership in the year of India’s presidency of G20, this alliance with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is yet another evidence of the long-term pledge to associate with the government to development India’s schedule of digital inclusion, skilling and growth and bring into line with the values of building communities and bringing the world as one.

Meta initiated the Creators of Metaverse program with AICTE in July this year, whereby 100,000 students and 20,000 educators will be empowered in AR, VR, AI and XR technologies. Additionally, a 2-year AVGC-XR-AI diploma course to be announced for students across AICTE associated colleges. Meta will continue providing end-to-end exercise and upskilling funding for students and teachers and to support to build curricula on AI, AR, and XR technologies. The program will help the animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) subdivision to upskill students entrusting them to be job ready.

Meta also has a continuing partnership with CBSE that inaugurated in December 2021, whereby 10 million students and 1 million educators will be skilled in AR, VR, AI, and Digital Citizenship. Meta will continue to support end-to-end training and upskilling for students and teachers until 2026.

Earlier this year, Meta also joined with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for a G20 occasion showcasing novelties in skilling and the part of advanced technologies (VR & AR) for skill enablement.

Under the partnership with NIESBUD, one million businesspersons will get admission to digital marketing skills by Meta in the next 3 years. Additionally, promising present entrepreneurs will be skilled in digital marketing techniques using Meta platforms: Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram in 7 languages. 50 impact stories from regional languages will be recognized. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) will be the execution partners in Emerging Technology in Education
