It is a frightening feeling for a parent, when trying to help a child prepare for their school exams. Your child may have gathered things with new school curriculum, that you as a parent may not know. Times have changed and your child may have learnt and are taking different types of exams from that you are used to.

If your feeling lost in trying to prepare your child, there are certain recommended techniques and tips which will prepare them for any type of exams, which they have to face in future.

Go online and find basic test prep questions, and help you child to answer them. This will make it easy for your child to read and understand the questions which comes for their exams.

By making flashcards with the questions and answer on each side, is another method of studying.

There are many exams prep classes both in person or online, but it depends on what type of exam your child is preparing for. So, it’s always better to contact your child’s school teacher and ask if they have any resources or contacts which provides these types of classes.

If the material that your child brings home to study seems hard for you, then it’s advisable to hire a tutor once a week, which will help your child to prepare for their exams.

Tutoring offers your child the opportunity to learn the exam material with an expert. This takes the pressure off from you to try to tutor them yourself.

When beginning the preparations for an exam, to optimize learning, create a schedule for your child. If your child studies about two hours a day then schedule a break halfway through where your child can get up, stretch and have a sip of water. The break should be only for a few minutes, so that their brain won’t wander too much. This break will allow your child to take a few minutes to remember what they studied before they jump back in, and learn more new material.

Studies indicate that students absorb their study materials better, when they study in different environments.  Try to change things by letting your child to pick a new place every day in the house to study.

When your child is preparing for an exam, make sure they eat well, so that it will boost their health and mental stamina.

In a student’s life, preparing for an exam can be very exhausting and stressful. It’s important to ask your child what they need from you, whether it’s a snack or a hug, so that they will always know that they have support in their endeavors, which makes a big difference to their lives.

There are so many resources which will help you and your child during exam preparation. Students are sure to do well in their exams, when they have the backing of a community of people from parents, teachers and tutors.
