Japanese IT firms to investigate opportunities in the Bangladesh market

Dhaka, Bangladesh (CU)_ The Japanese information technology (IT) businesses were encouraged to investigate business opportunities in Bangladesh, as Dhaka provides several benefits and support to investors in the IT industry, such as tax incentives and one-roof service at its High-Tech Parks. According to the latest press statement, Bangladesh made the requests during the Bangladesh-Japan IT Business Collaboration Networking event hosted by the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo at its Bangabandhu auditorium.

The Bangladesh ambassador to Japan, Shahabuddin Ahmed, delivered the welcome address and encouraged the Japanese firms to hire experienced IT experts from Bangladesh. In addition, he guaranteed that the embassy will provide all assistance necessary to establish a business in Bangladesh. He also noted that Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, has designated ICT Products and Services as the National Product of the Year 2022, highlighting the export of ICT and digital gadgets and the diversification of export products.

This event was held to promote Bangladesh’s ICT sector in Japan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Japan. Government authorities from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Embassy Officials, and other organizations such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), ITPO Tokyo, and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) were present at the event.

Other prominent participants included high-level executives from Japanese IT firms, NRB-established IT firms in Japan, Bangladeshi IT experts working in significant Japanese organizations, and Bangladeshi researchers in Japan in this sector. Dr. Ariful Haque, minister (Commerce) of the Embassy, spoke on Bangladesh-Japan IT Business Collaboration and moderated the event, which was supported by UNIDO ITPO Tokyo and NRB-established IT firms in Japan.
