Los Angeles, USA(CWBN)_ Last Wednesday (9th December) Jessica Simpson announced that she would be partnering with Amazon Studios to produce a digital collaboration in the form of a documentary series as well as a new coming-of-age scripted series inspired by Open Book.
The singer stated that she feels “honoured and humbled” to be working with Amazon Studios. She went on to say that the project would involve a “…fictionalized coming of age series about my mid-twenties, a new intimate unscripted docuseries with music as a key component and two essays where I will share my soul and perspective while holding your heart close to mine.” Jessica is a be the executive producer of the show.
According to a press statement by Amazon Studios documentary series will premiere on the Amazon Prime Video and is to feature “never-before-seen personal footage shot over the last decade and will explore the highs and lows of Simpson’s life, including her singing career, her journey to sobriety, starting a family, the rise of creating a billion-dollar business and finding her voice.”
The drama series is to take place on the aftermath of the Simpson’s divorce from Lachney and will shine a light on her journey of self-discovery. Music will play a significant role too of the series.
As for the essays, the first will touch on the topic of motherhood whilst the second focuses on gratitude. They will be published via Amazon Original Stories, and the Simpson will be narrating the audio versions as she had done for the audiobook of her hit memoir, Open Book.
The memoir has sold nearly half a million copies in 14 weeks in 121 countries.
