Tehran, Iran (CWBN)_ Iranian state television network, IRNA, and semi-government news agency, Nour, have confirmed that journalist and journalist, Ruhollah Zam, was executed via hanging earlier this morning (12th Dec) for prompting nationwide anti-government protests over the country’s economic situation, in 2017.

However, the legal conviction against Zam was issued in June this year for “corruption on Earth”, which is often used by the Iranian government to counter dissident views to that of the government and espionage.

Following years in exile in France, Zam was captured by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in October last year. Zam was 42 at the time of his death.
