Due to the elimination of transportation syndicates, goods are now being transported from the outer anchorage of Chattogram port to 34 sea routes under an open market system. According to traders, this shift has led to a decline in the cost of lighter ship transportation by at least 25 percent.
Stakeholders have indicated that the Water Transport Cell (WTC) previously held control over the transportation of goods by lighter vessels from Chattogram port.
