reduce the country’s carbon emissions through increased reliance on renewable sources. “We seem to be riding on a new wave. It is an expectation that we must de-carbonise. This is new language but also a bold admission that we risk the future of humanity if we do not reduce our carbon footprint,” Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, said during the summit.

She noted that amid the ongoing increase in demand for energy, a host of incentives are being offered by the government to manufacturers, as policy makers seek to lower the risks associated with the investment in the clean energy sector. According to the Cabinet Secretary, the event organised by the KAM, continues to play a critical role in raising awareness on clean energy techniques, increasing reliance on clean technologies in the public transport sector and other areas such as construction and cooking.

During his address, the board chairman of the KAM, Mucai Kunyiha, pointed out how clean energy strategies have helping in increasing efficiency in the production of goods and services, and improved energy governance for public and private enterprises in Kenya. He added that energy audits that are now being carried out regularly by a number of businesses have advanced their power saving techniques, while ensuring a green economic growth.

“It is impressive how companies have moved forward. The energy audits have enabled the companies in the manufacturing sector to save power,” he added.
