Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, production house Silver Cast Creations has announced a new biopic titled Maa Vande. The film will star Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan in the starring role and will follow the prime minister’s life from childhood to his climb to national prominence. The film is said to be based on genuine events and would go deep into Modi’s personal and political journey. One of the most important components of the story will be his close relationship with his mother, the late Heeraben Modi, who influenced his ideals and character.

Unni Mukundan, famed for films such as Malikappuram, Marco, and Meppadiyan, has a personal connection to the role. He grew up in Ahmedabad and first knew Modi as Gujarat‘s Chief Minister. Unni discussed the initiative and how a brief contact with Modi in 2023 had a lasting impression on him. During that meeting, Modi shared the Gujarati words “Jhookvanu Nahi,” which translates to “Never Bow Down,” a phrase that Mukundan says continues to guide him personally and will be central to how he approaches the role.

The film is being directed by Kranthi Kumar CH and promises high production values. Cinematography will be handled by KK Senthil Kumar, best known for his work in Baahubali and Eega. Music will be composed by Ravi Basrur, while National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad is on board to shape the film in post-production. Top names from the industry are contributing to the film’s technical and creative team. Sabu Cyril is overseeing production design, and King Solomon will choreograph the action sequences. Maa Vande is being planned as a pan-India release and will be available in multiple languages, including English. The makers intend to provide a dramatic cinematic experience that depicts both the public and private aspects of Narendra Modi’s life.

However, this will not be the first biopic based on the prime minister. Omung Kumar directed a film in 2019, in which actor Vivek Oberoi played Modi. However, Maa Vande tries to provide a more emotional and intimate story, focusing mainly on Modi’s formative years and his mother’s constant support. The release date for Maa Vande is yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, other cinema stars throughout the country, including Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, Pawan Kalyan, and Jr. NTR, wished Prime Minister Modi a happy birthday on social media.
