To support your vision, preventative measures should be taken like, getting enough sleep, consuming the right foods to support your vision and having your eyes checked regularly. The sooner you implement these changes, the longer you can stave off vision issues, eye-related diseases and maintain independence.

As you age, your vision changes and becomes difficult to see things up close. With better lighting, glasses or contact lenses, this eye related problem can be fixed. However, to help combat these age-related issues, you need to ensure that you wear your prescription glasses and utilized bright lights throughout your home.

Another main issue is distinguishing colours, especially close colours like blue and black. As you get older, reduced screen time and a healthy diet would help to tackle these issues.

If you go to a dark room to a well-lit room or step outside after being in a dark theatre, it takes longer to adjust to the change in light. Apart from allowing your eyes to adjust to the new light, you can wear sunglasses, annually get your eyes checked and getting enough sleep to help maintain your independence in the face of these issues.

When you are around the age of 40, you should regularly go for eye checkups, and mention any medical condition you have to your doctor, that could influence your eyesight, like diabetes or heart disease. The earlier you conduct annual eye checkups, the more effectively your doctor can track any vision changes as you age and catch problems early.

What you eat impacts how you see. to help reduce some eye problems that a company ages, like macular degeneration or cataracts, you should consume a diet which is rich in antioxidants. To reduce the risk of age-related diseases, you should decrease the amount of sugar and refined flour, while substituting it with whole grains.

To see more effectively, especially at night foods with beta carotene can help such as carrots, cantaloupes, sweet potatoes and apricots.

You need sleep so that your eyesight is refreshed. If you strain your eyes throughout the day, this will lead to an increase of age-related eye diseases.

Overall, it’s very important to take care of your eye health. The better your quality of life will remain, if you protect your eyes inside and out. As you age, you can utilize preventative measures to maintain eye health.
