Major Australian Energy Company to allow investors to have a say on climate reporting

SYDNEY (CU)_Earlier this year, British billionaire Christopher Hohn launched an initiative calling on companies to establish clear and specific carbon transition plans in their annual shareholder vote. His “Say on Climate” campaign has already reached Australian shores and some of the top energy-intensive companies in the Pacific nation are already feeling the pressure. 

Accordingly, several major players in the industry, including Rio Tinto, Santos, Woodside Petroleum and Oil Search this year agreed to put their climate reports to a shareholder vote. This week, Origin Energy became the latest oil and gas company to join the climate initiative.
