Matt Follows reaches the tip of Cape York!

 northern point of Australia and for most Australians it’s a trip that have been on their bucket list for a long time. One would think that this condition that Matt has would stop him from making this trip as it would be a hindrance. But no, it didn’t. with the support of his friends Matt made the trip and it was all that he hoped it was more.

Matts Partner Rebecca Deed stated that “We sort of had to re-jig everything and think about how we were going to navigate the whole trip as well as the tip [of the Australian mainland], To have the group of people with us that we had and to come up with such an amazing chariot-style arrangement to get him over the rocks to the tip was just comical, it was amazing; it was one of those things we’ll never forget.”

Corticobasal Syndrome is a degeneration progressive disorder that causes the brain to lose nerve cells. Those with the condition can be affected by wide a range of symptoms that can vary various ways and also very fast. There are of course some therapies that have been available for a while to manage the symptoms as well as few medications to be used in treatment.

Ms Deed continued to say that “It was one of those right time, right place moments and it was one of those things you can’t believe until you’re there, we were a man down and a bit of extra muscles to carry him over those rocks was amazing.”
