Port Louis, Mauritius (CU)_ The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has announced its long-term goals and commitment to establish deeper economic relationships with GCC nations. GCC nations maintain deep historical and cultural links with the island country, and the bloc is one of Mauritius’s most promising and developing markets. The Mauritius tourism administration underlines its commitment to providing unique travel experiences to the tourists visiting the island.

“Explore the Unexplored Mauritius” is the main theme of the year that highlights the island’s cultural and gastronomic diversity, history, tradition, and ecotourism choices, and massively unexplored outdoor activities. Mauritius followed a perfect immunization plan and strict Covid safety guidelines until mid-2021, and is well prepared for the next busy season. The island country has already experienced an influx of visitors in the first three months of the year and anticipates a busy summer.

The travel and trade partners play a vital role; therefore, the authority has launched a number of strategic partner projects throughout the GCC. The MTPA spent the first few months of 2022 to efficiently strengthen the current partnerships, raise regional awareness, and win new corporate collaborations. Recently, officials in Abu Dhabi hosted an interactive training for the regional trade experts. The event attracted more than 150 dignitaries, authorities, and decision-makers from the tourism and hospitality industries who attended the workshop and engaged in high-level conversations with officials.

At the biggest travel and tourism show in the Middle East, the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the industry’s response to Mauritius tourism was overwhelmingly positive. The authorities made contacts with over 300 partners from the travel, hotel, and aviation industries and signed a number of major deals. This comes on the heels of the tremendous success of the Mauritius pavilion at Expo2020 Dubai.
