In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream

‘MICHAEL’

On 11th January, it was announced that Michael Jackson’s biopic, titled Michael, is set to release on 18th April, 2025.

The film’s distributor, Lionsgate, announced the news this week, sending ripples of excitement through the legions of Jackson fans around the world.

The picture is being released by the studio in the US, and worldwide by Universal.

Variety reported that the movie’s production will start on 22nd January.

The movie’s official synopsis reads that Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop.  The film presents the King of Pop’s triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale, from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances.  Audiences will experience as never before, an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.

Michael’s nephew, Jaafar would play the role of his iconic uncle in the next production under the helm of Antoine Fuqua, the acclaimed director behind films like Training Day and Emancipation.     Michael’s elder brother, Jermaine Jackson, is the father of Jaafar.

“It’s uncanny how much [Jaafar is] like Michael,” Fuqua told Entertainment Weekly. “Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, discovered him.

Fuqua is joined by a powerhouse team of producers, including John McClain and John Branca, the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, and Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer behind Bohemian Rhapsody. The script comes from the pen of John Logan, known for his work on Gladiator and The Aviator.

Michael will take up the date that was previously held by The Exorcist: Deceiver, which was withdrawn from Universal’s planned theatrical schedule following the announcement that director David Gordon Green had left the project.

The Exorcist sequel which was initially scheduled for April 18, 2025, has been put on hold indefinitely as Universal and Blumhouse look for a new director.
