Min Aung Hlaing who is Myanmar’s military junta chief reportedly threw a lavish dinner party whilst his soldiers shot and killed more than 100 innocent people in the streets, then also forced thousands of people to flee into Thailand in terror.

There were incriminating images posted on several social media platforms of the coup leader dressed in formal wear and sitting down to dine with his guests. He did not seem to care about the fact that the forces had gone on a violent rampage killing up to 114 people which included children in 44 towns and cities across the country.

Many international leaders joined in saying that the situation that Myanmar is in is terrible and the military was behaving absolutely outrageous. The US went as far as to impose sanctions on several generals in Myanmar including Min Aung Hlaing. The chief of the Australian Defence force also condemned the shooting. General Angus Campbell and his counterparts from countries, including the US, UK and New Zealand, released a statement after the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayit Chan-o-cha said his government has prepared for a potential influx of refugees from neighboring Myanmar. “We have prepared the areas if the influx happens (so we know) where to keep them, we don’t want to have any influx into our area, but we certainly have to take human rights issues into our consideration.”

There are multiple examples such as a 40-year-old Mandalay resident was shot and burned alive by military troops. There was also the fact that security forces shooting into residential buildings, nighttime raids and arrests, and looting and destruction of private property. At least six children between the ages of 10 and 16 were among those killed.
