New $700m sports stadium planned for SA

-

Premier of Central Adelaide Steven Marshall has spoken of plans to build a state of the art 700 million dollar indoor sports and entertainment stadium in Adelaide stating that it will give the city much needed “Oomph”. Adelaide is known to be a laid back and lazy sort of city and with this stadium the city plans on making a livelier environment.

Premier Marshall has released the details of the proposed Riverbank Arena which is to be started and completed one year from the next state election. He then went on to state that “It’s a project we feel strongly about. This is a project which will transform our CBD.”

This new state if the art complex will be built alongside the existing Adelaide convention center and will be replacing the already existing Adelaide entertainment center. It will boost the seating capacity for indoor sports, concerts and other events from about 8000 at present to 15,000.

The while idea behind these kinds of infrastructure projects is to give sleepy cities such as Adelaide a chance in the future to have an improved tourism footfall. As the generations get younger they want more excitement and a sense of adventure. By putting up this stadium it means that the city will have a chance to host major sport events and even have international artist come and perform which mean that there will be decent income coming into the country as well.

“Don’t get me wrong, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre has served South Australia well, it’s been in place for more than three decades,” the premier said.

“But it’s too small, it’s tired and, quite frankly, it’s in the wrong place.

“What we’re proposing with the Riverbank Arena is a brand new facility in the center of our city.”
