Pakistan’s high inflation pushing up house prices

Pakistan (CU)_ The high rate of inflation in Pakistan gives the impression that home values are rising quickly. But it’s only a fantasy. According to zameen.com, the biggest real estate website in Pakistan, nationwide home prices increased by 5.05% to PKR 10,875 (US$ 77) per square foot during the year to Q1 2019. However, after accounting for inflation, housing values actually decreased by 3.98% over that time.

National house prices increased by a pitiful 0.95% quarter-over-quarter in Q1 2019 (dropped by 2.07% when adjusted for inflation).
