Peter Obi’s Openness to Collaboration: A Path to Nigeria’s Transformation?

Africa (Commonwealth Union) _ The Collective Movement (TCM) has lauded Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate from the 2023 election, for his openness to collaborating with others, provided they share his vision and are not motivated by state capture. High Chief Franklin Ekechukwu, the founder of TCM, commended Obi’s stance, suggesting that it offers hope for addressing Nigeria’s current economic challenges. He further emphasized that a political alliance between Obi and Atiku Abubakar would offer Nigerians a clear choice in 2027—between continuing with the status quo or opting for meaningful change led by two seasoned, visionary leaders.

Ekechukwu’s remarks, delivered through a statement by TCM’s Director of Media, Mazi Edwin Nwachukwu, emphasized Obi’s dedication to Nigeria’s well-being, rather than personal ambition. He pointed out that Obi’s willingness to put the country first, especially at a time when citizens are grappling with poverty, hunger, insecurity, and economic instability, reflects his humility and deep concern for the nation.

According to Ekechukwu, Atiku is the most qualified leader who aligns with Obi’s outlined vision. Describing Atiku as a national treasure and a nation-builder, Ekechukwu praised his dedication to education and his broad appeal across the country. He argued that Atiku’s leadership, combined with Obi’s determination, would create a powerful political force capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election.

Ekechukwu urged Obi to reconsider any reservations he might have from past political conflicts and form an alliance with Atiku, which could renew the powerful partnership that resonated with voters in 2019. He further expressed that the youth, who admire both Obi and Atiku, would greatly benefit from their combined leadership.

The TCM leader concluded by praising Obi’s recent statements as those of a true leader focused on progress, not just power. Ekechukwu reinforced that both Atiku and Obi share a common vision for Nigeria—one that promises no child left behind, better healthcare, and an end to poverty.
