Property developer ‘surprised and disappointed’ by Kāinga Ora’s decision

AUCKLAND (CU)_Winton is one the largest property developers in New Zealand, with a portfolio of about 7,500 resident lots, apartment units, dwellings and retirement village units. The company has a significant number of large-scale projects currently in progress in New Zealand and Australia. Its Sunfield development is one of the major new developments proposed by Winton, which has been described as “a radical new approach to living”.

Under the new project, the company aims to develop 5000 new homes in a “carless” neighbourhood in Auckland, which will knock 20 per cent off the average cost of housing across the city. Sustainability is at the heart of the development, with fully solar-powered housing units, fewer roads and cars and an electric shuttle service for residents who are not walking or biking.
