Crucial Discussions between two Heads of the Commonwealth

During his visit to the United Kingdom, President of Sri Lanka HE Ranil Wickremasinghe met with Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Patricia Scotland to discuss digitization methods and strategies within the Commonwealth.

The President’s media division stated that the meeting was successful in discussing productive implementation strategies in order to address global concerns such as climate change and its consequences. With regard to this, the meeting also saw fruitful discussion about the involvement of the Commonwealth in order to mitigate this grave concern, as a strategy for change.

The focus on digitisation during the meeting instigated conversation to give way to increasing partnerships within the Commonwealth and initiate programs within the Commonwealth to combat global concerns.

The meeting was held at the Marlborough House in Westminster, London, which is the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Nations and the seat of the Commonwealth Secretary-General.

The Commonwealth currently comprises 56 countries that are rich in diversity, knowledge and resources. This meeting initiates stronger relationships within the Commonwealth in order to create a force that steers in the direction of change. With new reforms made to current practices and the strength of unity, the Commonwealth of nations can be viewed as a unit that advocates not just for a greener future, but an overall better one as well.

Inculcating digitisation and using technology to its best can forge better communication channels within the Commonwealth which can enable all 56 nations to work towards a common goal.

This meeting between the President of Sri Lanka and the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth is perceived to be the start of greater things for the world, brought forward by all nations that make up the Commonwealth, for the shared benefit of a better future.
