New York, USA(CWBN)_ This New Year’s Eve celebration on ABC will see Ryan Seacrest hosting special guests’: the president-elect and the future first lady. President-elect Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are scheduled to give “their last interview of the year” in New York’s Times Square on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021.”
According to a statement by the producers, the Bidens will share an encouraging message “as we come together to close out 2020 and look ahead with hope to 2021.”
Pop icon Jennifer Lopez will perform the opening musical act. The star is set to perform live during the iconic ball drop on the 31st of Dec. Due to the pandemic, the event will be out of bounds to the general public.
Performers from Los Angeles include Brandy, Doja Kitten, Ella Mai, En Vogue, Julia Michas & JP Saxe, Lewis Capaldi, Maluma, Megan Thy Stallion. Big Freedia and PJ Morton from New Orleans will be there. Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter, Jimmie Allen, and Machine Gun Kelly will be joining in from New York. The TV special will kick off on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern, with a performance by Lauper and Porter, who had previously worked together on the Broadway musical “Kinky Boots.”
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021” will air until 2 a.m. Eastern on the 1st of Jan. The show marks the 16th year that Seacrest is returning to host the event. He will be joined by Porter and Lucy Hale in New York. Ciara will host from Los Angeles.
