Sainsbury’s supermarket has reduced the prices of items including yoghurt, cream and cheese by up to 60% and has shared certain examples of the cheaper items you will find in store now.  The supermarket has cut prices of more than 40 dairy products including cheese, cream and yoghurt, creating a further boost for their shoppers.  Sainsbury’s has stated that the farmers will not be affected by the price cut.  This is not the first major price cut in recent weeks while families continue to battle against rises in prices.

Tesco kicked off the price war by bringing down the price of milk while Lidl, Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Asda followed suit.  Sainsbury’s lowered the prices of certain bread and butter products, while other supermarkets again followed with similar announcements.

Tesco recently slashed the cost of cooking oil and pasta in stores after reducing the price of 30 items in-store.

Food Commercial Director at Sainsbury’s Rhian Bartlett stated that since the rate of grocery inflation remains at a record high, they want to do everything they can to help their customers manage their budgets, and keep prices low on the products that they most often purchase.  He said that whenever they paid less for products they purchased from their suppliers, they would pass those savings on to their customers.    Observing the commodity prices beginning to fall for milk, they reduced the prices of more than 40 own-brand products in their supermarkets.

Starting today, customers will be able to save around 60% on the prices of a wide assortment of items including yoghurts, cream, and hard and soft cheeses.  Popular dairy products such as Philadelphia and Lurpak will be added to their Nectar Prices campaign for the first time.

He stated that they were relentlessly focused on providing their customers with the best possible value so they know they are getting a great deal on their everyday staples when shopping with Sainsbury’s.

Some of the products that have been reduced in price from today at Sainsbury’s are fat free natural yoghurt, light soft cheese, fat-free cottage cheese natural, double cream, and British Mild Cheddar.
