Salmonella in Beef Biltong

-

Eat-Sum-More Inc. recalls Beef Biltong from the market because of its possible contamination with Salmonella. According to a statement from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), this callback was prompted by test results. The recalled goods were marketed in Ontario and Online in Canada.

As of the statement of this recall, there have been no informed sicknesses related to the consumption of this product. Customers should check to see if they have purchased the recalled products. They must not eat, serve, use, trade, or distribute these products. Recalled goods should be disposed of or returned to the location where they were acquired.

Contaminated with Salmonella bacteria does not typically look, smell, or taste rotten. Anyone consuming can become sick with a Salmonella contamination. Infants, children, seniors, and individuals with deteriorated immune systems are at higher risk of serious infection because their immune systems are delicate, according to the CDC. Individuals who have consumed any recalled products and established symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical advice. Sick individuals should inform their doctors about the probable exposure to Salmonella bacteria as specific tests are essential to identify salmonellosis. Salmonella contamination symptoms can imitate other infections, often leading to misdiagnosis.

Indications of Salmonella infection can comprise diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever and typically develop within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. Otherwise, healthy adults are typically sick for 4 to 7 days. In some circumstances, however, diarrhea may be so severe that individuals require hospitalization. Elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with deteriorated immune systems, as cancer patients, are more likely to develop severe illness and serious, occasionally life-threatening situations. Some individuals get infected without getting sick or presenting any indications. Nevertheless, they may still transmit the infections to others.

If you have purchased this product, do not consume it, even if you reheat it thoroughly due to the possibility of cross-contamination. You can dispose of it in a secure waste bin with a tight lid after double bagging it, or you can return it to the store where you purchased it for a full reimbursement. If consumed you have to monitor yourself for the symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning for one week. If you do get sick, visit your doctor immediately.
