Scores killed as plane crashes near Pokhara airport

Nepal (Commonwealth Union)_Scores of people have been killed following a plane with 72 people on board crashed near an airport in central Nepal.

The Yeti Airlines flight from Kathmandu to the tourist town of Pokhara crashed on landing before it caught fire.

Videos posted on social media show an aircraft flying low over a populated area before banking sharply.

As of now, at least 68 people are confirmed to have died, officials said. Several critically injured survivors were taken to hospital, unconfirmed reports said.

Nepali news confirmed that the Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur KC stated that the crash whilst horrific there was not a high chance of survival.

In the passenger roster there were 10 foreigners. Out of this, there were identified passengers from India although no names have been released to the press.

The crashed plane wreckage was on fire for sometime, whilst the rescue workers were working tirelessly trying to put it out. The Nepal authorities made all possible efforts to make sure that anyone who survived the crash did not perish in the fire and wreckage.
