Ship of Dreams – Titanic II to set sail

-

In 1912 the Titanic was known as the Ship of Dreams. For over a century, Titanic’s legend has been powered by mystery, intrigue, and respect for all she stood for, said Australian mining tycoon Clive Palmer.

During an occasion at the Sydney Opera House, Palmer 69, declared his new idea for the Titanic II venture, which will challenge to reconstruct the ship and repeat its novel maiden journey, without a tragic ending.

It was the 3rd time Palmer had publicized the venture, which was first revealed in 2012. Originally, Titanic II was deferred in 2015 over expense disagreements. Then it was relaunched in 2018 and sail in 2022.

Palmer, who Forbes stated has a net value of US$4.2 billion, blamed the newest failure on “unexpected global delays” related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the government lockdowns the cruise industry entered a long-term closure but shipping has reached full business with passenger statistics now greater than pre-COVID levels, Palmer informed in a media release. We are utilizing the finest ship-builders, engineers, and designers in the world back on the floor to build Titanic II.

Palmer informed his firm Blue Star Line proposes to create the replica ship to set sail in June 2027, Australian media stated.

Palmer informed his Titanic II will be “far, far greater than the original.”

Still, correspondents present as Palmer revealed his 3D-rendered design plans in Sydney did not hold back their cynicism. When questioned why this 3rd attempt to build Titanic II would be fruitful, Palmer said, “Because I’ve got additional money now.”

He proposes to reconstruct the Titanic’s nine floors with the same interiors and cabin designs as the initial vessel. Titanic II, according to Palmer, will also comprise numerous upgrades, specifically “modern safety measures, navigation devices and 21st-century expertise.”

Once built, Palmer says, the ship will sail from Southampton, England to New York, as the Titanic was envisioned to do before plummeting into the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean. The famous disaster led to the deaths of around 1,500 passengers and crew.

Palmer said he was pushing onward with the Titanic II venture, in part, over doubts that he would die having “done nothing,” The Guardian reported.

So, I could build the Titanic, he said. It’s a lot more entertaining to do the Titanic than it is to sit and count my money.

Palmer said he anticipated that by constructing Titanic II, he would stimulate world peace.

“Titanic II needed to be built,” he explained. We all recognize how to start a war. We get militaries and we fund wars. But it is harder to make peace. To make peace we have to stick with it every day. You progress inch by inch.

According to Palmer, the Titanic II can be a ship of peace among all world countries.

Palmer said his “ballpark” assessment for the venture is up to AUS$1 billion (about C$891.9 million). He anticipates construction early next year; however, he has not yet secured a shipyard. As well as a mining entrepreneur, Palmer is a prior politician. He created the now-deregistered United Australia Party (previously the Palmer United Party) and served one term as an MP after winning a seat in the 2013 Australian federal election. The party was formally deregistered in September 2022.
