Shishu Hospital launches pneumonia research center

Bangladesh (Commonwealth Union)_ Health Minister Zahid Maleque opened the Abul Hossain Respiratory and Pneumonia Research Center at Shishu Hospital in Dhaka, which was donated by Unifill Group. At the ceremony, Abul Hossain, Chairman of Unifill Group, gave Tk 1.50 crore to the government treasury in order to fund the research center. “On behalf of the health sector, an advisory campaign is being conducted to tell people to increase cleanliness in homes and to protect themselves from mosquito bites,” Health Minister Zahid Maleque said. 

Prof. Shahidullah, Bangladesh Children’s Hospital and Institute’s President, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by several delegates including Md. Saiful Hassan Badal, Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Division; Prof. Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam, Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), AKM Amirul Morshed, Director-General of Health Education Division, financier Abul Hossain, Barrister M. Sakhawat Hossain, chairman of Unifill Group, Prof. Dr. MA Aziz MP, director of Unifill Group, Dr. Md Jahangir, Director of Dhaka Children’s Hospital and other dignitaries.

Barrister M. Sakhawat Hossain, Director of Unifill Group and Member Secretary of Abul Hossain Respiratory Center and Pneumonia Research Center stated that Mr. Abul Hossain, founder and chairman of Abul Hossain Charitable Trust, donated funds for the construction of the center in order to improve the treatment of complicated pneumonia. According to Mr. Sakhawat Hossain, “From our Abul Hussain Charitable Trust and UNIFIL Group family, we are extremely grateful to the Children’s Hospital Authority for naming the center after my father.”
