Simmons announces retirement from international cricket

WEST INDIES – it is always the glory days that is remembered by most sportsman and the fans of the game. A lot of young sportsmen com in the game and proceed to give the stadium their best years to which they are handsomely rewarded.

When on dos become a professional sports player, it is inevitable that unlike an office job of 9 to 5 the retirement age comes much earlier than one would want. The body cannot take that kind of training everyday after a point and then comes the bittersweet goodbye that one must face.

It sems that Simmons has come to the point of retiring as Simmons’s agency shared a post on Instagram where it said that the batter sent out a letter to Cricket West Indies (CWI) to announce his retirement.

Simmons made his international debut way back in 2008 in an ODI against Pakistan at Faisalabad. Thereafter, he made his T20I and Test debuts in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

His last international game was during the ICC T20 World Cup last year against South Africa in Dubai.

In 8 Tests, 68 ODIs and 68 T20Is, the right-handed batter scored 278, 1958 and 1527 runs respectively, with the help of two centuries and 25 half-centuries.
