AWKA, Nigeria (Commonwealth Union) – There has been many changes made by newly elected Governor Charkes Soludo and one of them is the appointment of Osita Chidoka, former aviation minister, along with 19 other government officials as a part of the Education Advisory committee in Anambara.
This education advisory committee was much needed as the education sector of the country needed a looking into. The 20-member committee was hand-picked by the governor himself. The governor also stated to make sure he gets the information first hand he himself will chair all the meeting and then with the team he will try to come up with decent and feasible solutions.
This was much needed as Nigeria is known to produce brilliant young minds. The country has always managed to offer the best they could education wise. However, there is corruption in all governments and the place Nigeria was holding for education was slowly but surely slipping away. Nevertheless, the governor was not having this. He needed to make sure that the youth of the country got the education deserved. For this reason, transparency was viewed as absolutely critical by the governor in reaching this goal.
There is reason for this when there is this kind of transparency there is not a lot of room for smear campaigns. There are always rumors when there are committees put forward and there is funding needed. The governor has made it very clear by appointing this committee there will be no secrets and there will be regular updates.
Governor Soludo even went on record releasing a press statement in this regard. This press statement was released by Christian Auberime, who is the secretary to the governor as well as acting secretary in the committee.
